From Dave Bendy: I reached 100,000 recorded miles on October 22nd 2010.  I started running in 1954/5 with cross-country runs at school, but didn't keep a proper record until April 13th 1962, and the 100,000 dates from then.  Every run/session/race has been documented and totals recorded on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis.
Measurement of runs has mostly been done using UK Ordnance Survey maps, but also by a bike fitted with a Jones Counter (I'm an IAAF Road Race Course Measurer) and using a Garmin Forerunner in recent years.
My marathon best is 2:28:54 in the Manchester (Maxol) race in 1973.  Ultras include 5:55:45 for the London to Brighton (52.5 miles) in 1977 and 13:40:20 for the 80 mile South Downs Trail Race in 1997.
I was born in Weston-super-Mare, England, also the birthplace of Arthur Newton, who of course went on to find running fame in South Africa.  He certainly reached 100,000 miles a lot quicker than I have!
