I haven't logged every mile but I tried to calculate a few years ago and I came up with
60s 100 (started sept 69)
70s 24400 (4000 exactly in 1979 was biggest year)
80s 35500
90s 32100
0s 30050
10s 800 so far and make it 122950
In 70s, I ran 2:41:35 as junior aged 19 at Barnsley in 1977 (after running 2:45:13 at Boston in 77) though quickest of 70s was 2:34:06 in the Polytechnic marathon (at Windsor - not the old Windsor to Chiswick course though) in 1978 when I was 20. Best marathon in 1980s was my PB 2:29:42 in first London - Have run all London's since except 1983 which actually was short so I can claim to have run all the full London Marathon's!), though a 2nd place in Thanet marathon in 1986 in 2:36 was pleasing. Best of 1990s was probably a 2:42:10 on a tough course at Maidstone in 1992 where I finished third. I matched the time to the second when running a very cold and windy Austin marathon in 2003 which was my best marathon as a vet but got more pleasure from winning British Masters M45 title at Wolverhampton later in year in 2:46 and a 2:43:40 at London in 2008, my best as a M50 and my quickest London for 19 years.
