In late January, I had the opportunity to visit with Dr. Herbert Fred in Houston. And to take a few photos. These show: Herb on his Woodway treadmill; Herb's log from May 1972 (761 miles for the month); a year by year accounting of his total annual mileage since 1966 (biggest year = 7661.5 miles, 1982); an array of Herb's logbooks; and a flexible file folder with detailed clippings from some of his ultramarathons. Herb is 81. He ran 4917 miles in 2009, his 80th year.
